Pakistan + India= Dubai
India and Pakistan haven’t been on truly friendly terms ever since Pakistan came into its woeful and troubled existence in the late ’40s. The two have fought 4 wars and many more border skirmishes, most recently in 1999, and peace talks have hardly made any progress.
Cross border personal relations between civilians from the two nations have improved somewhat with bus and train services. These so-called “informal relationships” may just prove to be the key to long-lasting peace in the region.
In a high profile announcement, India’s most successful woman tennis player Sania Mirza will marry top Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik next month. Celebrations will be held in both countries, but, of course, they aren’t going to live in either and will move to Dubai after the wedding.
