Just Breaking: Zelaya Planning Counter-Coup in Honduras

Not So Honest Himself

Zelaya

Ousted President of Honduras, Manual Zelaya is planning a counter-coup to re-assume power in that Central American nation.

Zelaya has been holding detailed talks in San Jose, Costa Rica, with Honduran military leaders opposed to the interim government, in addition to representatives from the Organization of American States (OAS) and regional governments. Also present at the negotiations were the Venezuelan Ambassadors to Costa Rica and Honduras and the American Ambassadors to Costa Rica and Honduras.

Franken: The Politician, Already Asking for More Money

al-franken-begs

Franken is already behaving like the politicians in Washington, his soon-to-be-colleagues, with almost constant fund-raising. He’s barely in DC and he’s already begging.

Where’s Obama’s Stimulus Going?

It ain’t going to the consumers. And, its surely not helping their confidence.

According to the latest numbers

The consumer confidence index fell to 49.3 in June from 54.8 in May. Economists polled by Reuters had expected a healthier reading of 55.0 for the month.

Oops. Ouch. Oh no. Where did all of Obie’s trillions disappear?

Abroad, we could say it all lined politicians’ pockets … how about here?

Dog Flu: Coming Soon to a Canine Near You!

The NYT reports:

While fears of a flu pandemic among humans have shifted from the lethal H5N1 avian flu to the relatively mild H1N1 swine flu, the H3N8 canine flu has been a quiet undercurrent in the United States, rarely discussed except among veterinarians and dog owners in the few areas where it has struck hard: Florida, New York City’s northern suburbs, Philadelphia and Denver.

The Problem With Liberal Judges (as in MN, Coleman v. Franken)

Stupid Fucker

Stupid Fucker

The Supreme Court of Minnesota has just opted for Democrat Al Franken over Republican (and former Democrat) Norm Coleman.

Al Franken, that guy from the land of far-far-far-left away. Al Franken, that stupid radio show host who moved “back” to Minnesota only in ‘03 for the express purpose of running for office. Having Al Franken in the Senate is far worse than a combination of Limbaugh, Coulter and Malkin in there.

What are his qualifications for becoming a Senator? Especially when the alternative is the incumbent Norm Coleman, a several-term former Mayor of Minneapolis?

Obama Supports a Future Dictatorship in Honduras

zelaya1

Trying to Follow Chavez

Following another bloodless coup in Honduras, Obama says:

We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there…

It would be a terrible precedent if we start moving backwards into the era in which we are seeing military coups as a means of political transition, rather than democratic elections…

But, of course, you do. Because Zelaya had joined the:

leftist Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, an alliance led by Venezuela’s populist president, Hugo Chávez …

… who’s Obama’s “amigo” and, this was probably the only way his man Manuel Zelaya could be removed from office. Read on »

Sotomayor Rejected and Rebuffed by Supreme Court (or Something Like That)

Rejected! Courtesy, the Economist

Rejected! Courtesy, the Economist

Right up Sotomayor’s behind, the current justices of the Supreme Court have over-ruled her. Ouch  – what a rebuff! Nice start, Sonia – you haven’t even been promoted and you are already creating controversy within the High Court.

I just love it – her future colleagues sided with the firemen, including one Hispanic, in opposition to her, only today:

The city’s action in discarding the tests violated Title VII… the city’s fundamental arguments were “blatantly contradicted by the record.

Monday’s decision in Ricci v. DeStefano … was one of the most closely watched discrimination cases in years … because President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, had sided with the city and against the firefighters as a member of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Farah Pandith: Muslim, or… Hindu? Let’s Decide

My last post on Farah Pandith’s religious background solicited many interesting comments, mostly from Indians and Muslims, incensed by my lack of approval of Pandith’s appointment as Obama’s “envoy” to the Muslim world.

Senate: Protect Us From Obama’s EnviroCrazy Agenda

Doesn't Need or Want Obama

Doesn't Need or Want Obama

Obama mama’s latest “change” includes a bill that mandates:

  • cut emissions by 17% below the level in 2005 by 2020, then by 83% by 2050
  • national limits and requires polluters to acquire emissions permits
  • Permits are either free (85%) or bought at auction (15%)
  • Permits can be traded, allowing major polluters to offset surplus emissions

At what cost?! Millions of jobs lost? Implicit and explicit taxes raised on every American? Loss of American competitiveness?

Will the Senate please save us from this absolute abomination?

Republicans in the Senate – you’d better filibuster this bitch to purgatory. McCain, Collins, Snowe – this may be your last chance to show us you really are Republicans.

Zimbabwe: The New Angola?

Crazy Bugger

Crazy Bugger

Differences abound between Angola before and during the civil war there and Zimbabwe today, but the one common factor is wealth and control of natural resources in military hands.

UNITA, the Angolan rebel force, controlled diamond mines for decades, using controversial civilian labor, to extract the highly profitable resource. These so-called Blood Diamonds allowed UNITA to wage war against the a dysfunctional government and other rebel groups, with implicit support from DeBeers and other diamond companies.

The result was 500,000 dead in a 27-year conflict. Read on »

Obama Intervenes in Somalia From Afar: Doomed to Failure

America is now supplying weapons and training support to the transitional government in Somalia. No American troops or even trainers on the ground; just weapons and support.

The 1992 Mess

The 1992 Mess

Apparently, Obama has learnt the lessons from the last failed intervention in the African Horn. One of the iconic photos from the ‘92-’93 era was that of an American Marine being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu by Somali rebels.

Americans have stayed away from Somalia since then, apart from providing naval and air support to the Ethiopian invasion a few years back. The recent resurgence of Somali rebels, however, has caused sufficient concern in Washington to merit another intervention, but from afar.

The biggest problems for the transitional government are dearth of support among the populace, lack of fighters and a parliament without credible leaders. Read on »

MJJ: An Abomination in Life; An Abomination in Death

Michael Joseph Jackson set all the wrong examples. It is bad to speak ill of dead people, but MJJ was special.

MJJ c. 1984: Not Gross Yet

MJJ c. 1984: Not Gross Yet

He was a black man, not proud of his race or color. Vitiligo is a natural illness, but MJJ made it worse by trying to become white. Why? If you’re sick, what’s the big deal? Accept it and your fans will respect you even more.

He was a man not proud of his gender. Hey, you could have dressed normally and not  turned yourself into a living joke.

He was man not willing to stand up to his values. He wasn’t a child abuser – I am not willing to believe that he was. But, he never really made an honorable effort to clear his name. Some people like being with children, clearly outside of sexual reasons, and MJJ could have shown himself to be one of those.

American culture has become so attuned to constant child sexual abuse that the first news of a man who likes children and everybody starts accusing him of pedophilia. It’s not always that way, idiots.

Instead,  MJJ resorted to drugs and only made it worse. As only he could. Read on »

School Officials Can’t Strip Search Children

Just Teach 'Em

Just Teach 'Em

The High Court has issued an 8-1 ruling right up the behinds of the teachers’ unions. I am glad somebody is standing up to those self-righteous bastards.

School officials cannot, and I re-iterate, they cannot strip search any student regardless of the reason:

The officials in Safford, Ariz., would have been justified in 2003 had they limited their search to the backpack and outer clothing of Savana Redding, who was in the eighth grade at the time, the court ruled. But in searching her undergarments, they went too far and violated her Fourth Amendment privacy rights

The Constitution is there for a reason and thank God for it. Otherwise, we’d be living in a socialist utopia run by the teachers’ unions by now.

Al Qaeda Now Bombing Iraq to Protest Against American Withdrawal

Al-Masri: Confused

Al-Masri: Confused

Al Qaeda is starting a new campaign to bomb Iraqi cities and kill civilians to protest American withdrawal next week.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, described the impending withdrawal as detrimental to Al Qaeda’s long term goals of terrorizing the population of the Middle East and destroying Israel.

“America invaded Iraq without asking us, but they have to receive our explicit permission before they can leave. Who do they think they are? They can’t just leave now,” said Al Masri.

The audio recording of Al-Masri’s statements was embedded in a relatively brief 10 minute video produced by As Sahab Media, Al-Qaeda’s propaganda arm, according to the SITE Intelligence Group. It was posted on jihadist web forums only a short while back.

In Albany, Democrats Like Backdoor Business

Does She Like Backdoor Entry? Courtesy, NYT.

During the confusion and bickering that ensued as a result of the Democrats’ and Republicans’ decisions to hold separate Senate sessions in Albany, Democrats entered the Senate chamber through the backdoor and liked it.

Democrats locked the doors to the Senate thereafter, denying Republicans even the opportunity to enjoy a more natural entrance.

They then proceeded to introduce and vote on bills, including such momentous bills as legalizing same-sex marriage, promoting sodomy in state institutions of higher education, and paying for more sex-change operations in prisons.

“As we legislate on issues relating to gay marriage, promiscuity among our youth and sexual fulfillment in prisons, it is only appropriate we enter the chamber via the backdoor,” commented Kevin S. Parker, a Democrat from the Bronx.

WA State Wants to Imitate Blackstone with Negative Revenue

Gregoire, Master of Budgetary Arts

Gregoire, Master of Budgetary Arts

With constantly declining revenues projections and increasing budget outlays, the Washington state Treasury is now preparing to function with negative revenues till 2011. Latest projections have estimated a further drop of $482 million and economists predict the state to actually have negative revenue beginning 2010.

Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire announced earlier today that she was “tired” of dealing with constantly dwindling income for the state.

“It is considered an ideal for government to imitate the private sector. If Blackstone, the pinnacle of private enterprise, can have negative revenue, why can’t we? I am absolutely tired of dealing with this bullshit of revenue generation.

“Being liberal Democrats, we can’t stop spending, nor can we stop increasing our budget. That would be completely unacceptable. Fuck the rest.

Dr. Jim Yong Kim, Korean-born Harvard Medical School official and newly appointed President of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, is being aggressively courted by officials from both South and North Korea before he makes his final decisions about the future of the College.

During his acceptance speech in March, Kim outlined his plans to build “on the many achievements of Jim Wright and his predecessors that have made Dartmouth the vibrant, world-class institution it is today” and to “help build on Dartmouth’s great traditions as well as its singular role in higher education.”

According to Kim, the first steps include “taking sides” in the great battle between the mighty forces of communism and capitalism on the Korean peninsula and renaming Dartmouth College to represent its new alignment.

Mayor of Madagascar’s Second City Wants to be President Now

Madagascar: The Nation, not the Movie

Madagascar: The Nation, not The Movie

The Mayor of Toamasina, Madagascar’s second largest city and chief port, wants to become the next President of that Indian Ocean island nation.

Attending the extraordinary summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Johannesburg, Mayor Michael Ratsiraka announced that his city of Toamasina has long “suffered” at the hands of Antananarivo, the capital. “Toamasina is the lifeline of this country. If the mayor of Antananarivo can become President, then the mayor of Toamasina deserves to become President as well. I will make it happen and the military will back me this time.”

Meanwhile, member states of the SADC have called for peaceful political dialogue in Madagascar, naming a former president of Mozambique to lead negotiations. Attendees refused to comment on Mr. Ratsiraka’s announcement.

A spokesman for the Madagascar military establishment in Antananarivo said it was reasonable for Mayor Ratsiraka to expect a promotion. In case of another attempted coup, the army would “evaluate the available options and support the candidate most supportive of the goals and aspirations of the generals.”

Ethiopia Wants to Invade Somebody Else Now

Ethiopia has refused a request from Somalia to intervene in its escalating crisis, claiming it isn’t really into second helpings.

Somalian Transitional Government troops have been battling Islamist insurgents who control much of the country. The Speaker of Somalia’s parliament has urged neighboring countries to send troops within 24 hours. Ethiopian troops helped topple an Islamist movement in Somalia in 2006, but were withdrawn earlier this year.

This time, however, Ethiopia wasn’t interested, according to government spokesman Bereket Simon. “We’ve already invaded Somalia once and it didn’t yield us anything of value, apart from testing our latest military acquisitions. Read on »

Election Protests Turn into Muharram Matam Amidst Confusion

The Infamous Zanjeer

The Infamous Zanjeer

More than 100,000 people attended a “day of mourning” rally in Tehran to remember eight people killed while opposing Iran’s election result. The rally was called by Mir Hossein Mousavi, a former presidential challenger and erstwhile Deputy Fuhrer.

Attendees were soon confused and perturbed by the presence of over 10,000 individuals self-flagellating and engaging in zanjeer matam, in commemoration of the death of Imam Hussayn at the Battle of Karbala. Hundreds of azadars vehemently beat their breasts and heads with chains, swords and knives, bleeding profusely. Men, women, children and infants were observed participating in this ritual generally reserved for the Islamic month of Muharram. Read on »

GOP to re-launch as the Scandalous Old Party

“After several days of gut-wrenching and heart-wrenching discussions over the future of the Republican Party, the National Committee has decided to rename the party to better reflect the true nature and predispositions of its elected officials,” revealed Steele.

“A new pre-requisite for contesting SOP primaries would be a scandalous background, such as extra-marital affairs, bribe-taking, sexual perversion, and so on, or, at the very least, a desire to engage in such activities once elected.”

After the statements, Steele was joined on-screen by the Political Math/Ten Thousand Pennies guy who appeared beside him singing “So, so, so scandalous … That’s why you know you should be scared of us,” apparently taking cue from the background music provided by Mis-Teeq’s hip-hop hit Scandalous. Clinton Fractures Elbow, Disappoints Bill (Again)

Bill Clinton, a former President of the United States, was frankly outraged and quite disappointed that Hillary Clinton, the current Secretary of State, only fractured her elbow during a fall Wednesday, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Clinton Not Too Happy

Clinton: Not Too Happy

“I was hoping to move back into the White House for another 12 years. That bitch couldn’t even beat that [explicit] in the primaries. Then, she couldn’t convince the boys to appoint her Veep. I would have liked the Naval Observatory – can you imagine a constant supply of hot naval chicks?

“And, now, this. If she had been more seriously injured and admitted to the hospital for a few days, I could have enjoyed some guiltless debauchery without her constant prying. Ever since Monica, I haven’t been to have fun when she’s around. The only consolation has been her regular travel.

“But, no, she had to go and only injure her elbow. I am very disappointed, again,” Clinton was overheard saying to his buddies over drinks at his favorite club in Washington.

According to the same sources, Clinton has given an ultimatum to his beloved wife: she’d better create a serious enough crisis to oust Obama in the 2011 primaries or, at the very least, replace that Biden fellow in 2012, or else face divorce.

In international news, an advertisement looking for “chubby, sexual interns” regularly placed in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, newspapers has been traced to an Honorary Grand Commander of the Order of Logohu and was paid for in US Dollars.

Clinton, who is a member of that elite grouping, has made several covert trips to the Pacific Ocean nation in recent months. A spokesman for the Clinton Foundation refused to comment on this developing story.

Jodie Foster Ready to be Impressed Now

Jodie Foster, the Academy Award winning actress, announced in a press release today that she was ready to be impressed again by John Hinckley, who tried to kill President Ronald Reagan nearly three decades ago apparently to wow her.

A court ruled Tuesday that Hinckley can spend more time outside his psychiatric hospital and even apply for a driver’s license. Hinckley has been committed to a Washington-area hospital since he shot and wounded Reagan and three others in March 1981. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Hinckley has said he shot Reagan to impress Foster.

Old and Impressionable

Old and Impressionable

“I wasn’t sufficiently affected by John in 1981,” said Foster, “It’s not entirely cool to try to kill a President, even if he’s a Republican. Alas, George W Bush is no longer in office. I hope John will find a better way to impress me this time around. He can borrow my sports car if he likes, but only after he gets his driver’s license.”

An inside source, who wishes to remain unnamed, at Foster’s studio mentioned to your correspondent that she feels deprived of having fans who want to impress her nowadays. With only a string of average or below-average movies over the past few years and approaching a not-so-sexy 50, Foster has been forced to yield to the younger and hotter Hiltons and Lohans. The source also mentioned that Foster was willing to help Hinckley in any way possible to assist him in his quest to impress.

In other news, U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman, the one who had relaxed Hinckley’s incarceration, apparently did so also to impress Foster. In an unreleased 44th page of his 43-page ruling obtained by the Sun Newspaper, Friedman kept doodling “Impress Jodie” over and over again.

Extending Benefits is Right, But…

Jake Tapper is blogging that:

…[today] President Obama will sign a presidential memorandum extending benefits to the same-sex partners of gay and lesbian federal employees.

… it comes at a time that gay and lesbian supporters of the president are expressing anger and disappointment at his inaction on rescinding Don’t Ask/Dont Tell, his opposition to same-sex marriage, and his support for the anti-same-sex-marriage Defense of Marriage Act in a legal brief that compared same-sex unions to incestuous ones.

Denying benefits, that are already available to heterosexuals, to same-sex couples is wrong.

Government, like any employer, does not have the moral right to decide the sexual orientation or preferences of its employees. But, unlike any private business that can deny employment based on sexuality under certain circumstances, the Federal Government cannot do so. It cannot, likewise, discriminate employees based on their sexual preferences. If any benefits are provided to heterosexual couples, the same must be provided to homosexual couples.

Additionally, I feel that such benefits should not be restricted to sexual relationships alone. Any couple living together, whether the bond be forged by blood, friendship or any such ties, that declares itself to the government should be eligible for benefits.

Why does the government or any employer have the right to decide that a couple must be engaged in a sexual relationship before it can take advantage of benefits?

Now, even if Obama does make this decision, will it placate the gay rights lobby? Apparently not entirely:

“It seems to me at least to be a nice gesture, but a disappointment,” said Richard Kim, a senior editor at The Nation magazine.

But, of course, nothing is ever enough. Even when gay marriage is legal, we’ll have some other issue.

Animal Behavior does not Equate Human Homosexuality

Homosexuality in humans is a matter of choice – such sexual orientation may be natural or genetic, as some people claim, but the decision to act upon it is a matter of choice.

As Stephen Covey says, “we are free to choose our actions”; all our actions. Engaging in any kind of sexual relationship, whether hetero- or homo-, is a matter of choice. Humans do not have to do anything because of our superior intellect and reasoning. Humans do not have to have sex of any kind.

Apart from bodily functions, such as breathing or micturating, which cannot be considered “actions,” everything else a human does is a matter of choice. Read on »

The End of Saab Cometh

GM has agreed to sell the iconic Swedish car brand Saab to Koenigsegg as part of its recovery plan. Now, the new owner definitely possesses the wherewithal and experience to run a large car company…

Saab ... no more.

Saab ... no more.

[it] produces 18 cars a year and employs 45 people

And, Saab?

[it] sold 93,000 cars in 2008 … [and] employs about 3,400 people

18 -> 93,000: that’s a 516,666% jump. 45 -> 3,400: a 7,555% increase.

If anything is ripe for success, such massive growth, literally overnight, quite positively makes the list. Saab is a mass market auto manufacturer. Koenigsegg is a niche racing car company. The perfect couple.

GM might as well have followed one of two other options:

1. Shutting Saab down – A tagline for the parent … SAAB: Planes, Intel, but Couldn’t Make Cars.

2. Making the brand an “engineering contractor” for other companies – I like that. A new tagline could have been – SAAB: Swedish Engineering at Your Service Now at an Hourly Rate!

Adam Smith – the Greatest Moderate Ever!

The Olympian is, in my opinion, nothing short of a sharply liberal newspaper. It endorsed Gregoire for Governor in 2008; it backed Obama, and every other Democrat it could find. It has obviously been fully supportive of Democrat Adam Smith in the 9th Congressional District. In an article from this week, Shannon writes:

Smith … has built a reputation as a moderate pro-business Democrat.

Let’s examine Smith’s so called “moderate” record. He gets a mere 85% from the ADA, and a shockingly high 4% from the ACU – if that is not the hallmark of a moderate, what is? Pelosi scores a mere 50% from the ADA, but is classified as an “S” presumably for being the current speaker, and glorious a “0″ from the ACU. Compared to her, it seems, Smith might actually be a moderate. But, let’s discuss that, shall we? Read on »

Marriage is NOT a Right – Gay Marriage is Wrong, NYT

Gay marriage is banned in communist countries (see China, for instance), but the comrades at the NYT are so obsessed with the concept of institutionalizing sodomy that they are willing to criticize their Lord and Master Obama in an editorial:

The Obama administration, which came to office promising to protect gay rights but so far has not done much, actually struck a blow for the other side last week. It submitted a disturbing brief in support of the Defense of Marriage Act, which is the law that protects the right of states to not recognize same-sex marriages and denies same-sex married couples federal benefits. The administration needs a new direction on gay rights.

Lesianism may be "hot" - gay marriage is not. Courtesy, scrape.tv

Lesbianism may be "hot" - gay marriage is not. Courtesy, scrape.tv

The administration doesn’t need a new direction – the media does. The NYT needs to stop portraying gay marriage as an inalienable right. The media needs to stop advocating a position that is the opposite of what the MAJORITY feels. The attached PDF shows that even in a CNN poll, 54% of the general public opposes gay marriage.

…The brief insists it is reasonable for states to favor heterosexual marriages because they are the “traditional and universally recognized form of marriage.” In arguing that other states do not have to recognize same-sex marriages under the Constitution’s “full faith and credit” clause, the Justice Department cites decades-old cases ruling that states do not have to recognize marriages between cousins or an uncle and a niece.

Marriage is a religious institution. Recognizing marriage can only be done if that union is sanctioned by a religion. Just an incestuous marriage will be unacceptable, gay marriage would be too. And, that restriction would be completely reasonable. Read on »
